Lakeside, a Harbor Country® community, has been a popular vacation destination for nearby Chicagoans since the early 1920s. The community’s original trading post was moved from its lake location to its current home on Red Arrow Highway where it has been restored and today houses specialty shops and an interesting museum which traces the history of Lakeside. Red Arrow Highway and its crossroads also are home to many antique shops, galleries and specialty stores. An active homeowners association sponsors several events during the year and fosters a strong sense of community.
