The Village of Bear Lake Michigan is located in the northern half of Manistee County, approximately 15 mile north of Manistee and 45 miles south of Traverse City. Bear Lake is located just five miles from Lake Michigan shores.
A quiet community surrounds the 1,800 acre lake where fishing, swimming, sailing, and boating are enjoyed. Campgrounds, antique shops, 18 hole golf course, and a western theme park and riding stable are nearby. Cross country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and hunting bring visitors to the area during the winter months.
